Paladino tops Business First’s Power 200, TBN well represented

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

Carl Paladino, the CEO of Ellicott Development Company, captured the top spot in Buffalo Business First’s inaugural Power 200 rankings released in tiers this week.

Despite falling short in his quest to become New York State Governor—Andrew Cuomo took the title—Paladino still ranks as the most powerful private landlord in Western New York by owning over five million square feet of space, according to his bio.

Here are the listings broken into groups of 40:

Nos. 200 to 161
Nos. 160 to 121
Nos. 120 to 81
Nos. 80 to 41
Nos. 41 to 1

The Buffalo News’ most prominent voices—past and present—appeared on the list, as president and publisher Warren Colville came in at No. 11, Dottie Gallagher-Cohen (now with Visit Buffalo Niagara) reached No. 80, new Buffalo News’ editor and vice president Michael Connelly captured No. 112, and urban affairs editor Rod Watson sneaked in at No. 176.

In Jan. 2012, Business First produced an unnumbered list of the most influential 125 people in Western New York, and because of the story’s popularity, the local website-newspaper chose to publish more detailed rankings in 2013. Friday’s Business First paper will delve into the primary factors that allowed the staff to distinguish the region’s most powerful.
