If you read my initial post this morning, you’ll know I came to the MAAC to support my one true Buffalo love: Canisius College basketball. Ben T. of Buffalo.com, my roommate Aly and I had an interesting time getting here. Take a look at how I ended up at a random Starbucks with my heart in a puddle on the floor. Don’t worry, a couple of creepy guys passed me a tissue to get rid of this… dust…that I have in my eyes. Sniff, sniff.

It wouldn’t be a road trip if we didn’t hit a little bit of traffic. The good news was 1) it was safe enough for me to take this picture, and 2) Ben got to “ooh” and “ahh” over the “excitement” that was the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Since we conveniently were not allowed to check into our hotel before the game, I simply knocked on the door of a tiny jewelry store and asked to use their dressing room. I’m not sure why you need a dressing room for jewelry. I’m also not sure how we made it out alive.

Canisius fans came fired up and ready to support their Griffs. Trust me when I say that every person wearing blue and gold made sure that Iona knew we weren’t going down without a fight.

Canisius didn’t back down from a challenge tonight—the Griffs mounted an inspiring comeback before losing a heart-breaker to Iona. No, they did not win the tournament. But did they prove themselves to be better than last year’s 5-25 team? You bet they did. Congratulations to the seniors for an amazing season that turned the school’s entire program around. This season has paved the way for what I’m sure will be a successful future.
