Quirky blonde takes the MAAC - Day 2

blog by Katie Costello  •

Since my Canisius Griffs lost to the Iona Gaels yesterday, I had to find other ways to occupy my time during day 2 of the MAAC. Don’t worry, my short attention span made this an easy challenge to overcome.

Here’s a breakdown of your favorite little quirky blonde’s Massachusetts excursion:

MAAC-sleepy-blonde

Unlike my two travel buddies, I sleep like a rock and had no trouble snoozing for 10 hours last night. It was much easier considering I bounced on the beds, danced around the room and did some daily physical therapy stretches before laying my head to rest.

We made our way to the Mass Mutual Center to watch Niagara play Iona in the semifinals. People gave Aly and me funny looks since we were still wearing Canisius gear. Griffs til I die, baby!

On our way to Fan Fest, a separate area with bounce houses and games for kids (or grown 20-somethings) we saw an enormous set of signs that we just had to take a picture with. I tried to move one of the signs for a better backdrop, and of course broke it. Sorry, MAAC.

We found a lot of games to occupy our time once inside Fan Fest. I made a weak attempt at dunking a basketball, wiped out going down a blown up slide (and successfully made the most awkward face of the trip) and scored some free photo booth souvenirs.

MAAC-Korean

Our last stops of the day both involved food. Shocker. Not only did I get a doughnut bigger than my face at Donut Dip, but I also met a man who has been married for 24 years. I’m a sucker for love, so learning about his personal love story was a highlight of my trip. For dinner, we went to Cana Korean Restaurant. Despite our initial skepticism, the meal was delicious.

Our trip in Massachusetts is almost over. Check back in to Buffalo.com tomorrow as Ben T. covers the championship game between Iona and Manhattan, and I give you one last quirky update.
