Who says there’s no puck to watch?

Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! festival will kick off in Niagara Falls, Ontario this weekend with players from all over Canada vying for the Redwood Cup.

Making the trip, 114 elite street hockey teams will be in attendance for this invitation-only national championship that has $30,000 up for grabs for the men’s and women’s team victors. Clifton Hill will be taken over by 11 pro-style rinks constructed around Victoria Avenue during the two-day festival taking place today through Saturday.

Live coverage of the Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! national championships will be broadcast on CBC. For a full schedule of events, check out the official event website.

Since we’re so close to the festivities here in Buffalo, this would be a great event to spend an autumn weekend in the Falls. Admission to the festival is free, but space is limited to a first come, first serve basis to watch teams compete. Families are highly encouraged to make a day out of the event.

For more information on the Redwood Cup and other events going on this weekend at the Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! festival, check out their website.
