This is no regular duo.

The husband and wife partnership of Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland creates an incredibly smooth, yet unique sound that is Whitehorse.

Reigning from Hamilton, Ontario, the duo boasts a great success story in Canada having been awarded and nominated individually for Juno, Independent Music Awards and the Polaris Prize. Coming to Buffalo next week, Whitehorse is known for their music looping and wide array of instrumental knowledge to create something unlike what you’ve ever heard.

MTV Hive even did a story on them, specifically showcasing five unique instruments that the duo uses in their music. Those included 1980s telephone receiver microphones, the kitchenware kit, plywood stomp box, vice grip and oxygen tank and a leather La-Z-boy recliner.

According to The Globe and Mail, “A dimly lit duet between Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland clomps strikingly to a foot-kicked tambourine, with a twangy guitar lick adding to the intense mood. Get between the smouldering desire of these two singer-songwriters and you will be crushed.”

This is not a show to miss.

Whitehorse will be playing at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 at the Ninth Ward at Babeville. Tickets for the show are $9 in advance, $11 the day of the show and can be purchased through Tickets.com. Head over to the Babeville website for more details.
