World-class tennis returns to Toronto

blog by Kathryn Przybyla • October 24, 2012 @ 12:05pm
Aside from the U.S. Open, there aren’t many options for Buffalonians to see live-action tennis with top players.
Luckily, Toronto has recently become a go-to spot for tennis programs and events on a slightly smaller scale than the Grand Slam tournaments. The Roger’s Cup, held every summer at York University has brought out the biggest names in the sport. A yearly tradition with my family, we make the short roadtrip to watch and meet some of our favorite players. For a recap on my most recent trip, take a look at my story on the Roger’s Cup from this past summer.
Next month, tennis fans will have another opportunity to see some live matches at the Sports Chek Face-Off.
Featuring Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Milos Raonic and Agnieszka Radwanksa, fans will be treated to a night of great matches including mixed doubles, men’s singles and women’s singles. Raonic, currently ranked as Canada’s No. 1 player, will take on former No. 1 and recently retired American player, Roddick.
Williams and current world No. 4, Radwanksa will have a re-match of their 2012 Wimbledon finals, where Williams was named champion.
The Sport Chek: Face-Off featuring Andy Roddick, Serena Williams, Milos Raonic and Agnieszka Radwanksa will take place at 7 p.m. on November 16 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
Tickets for the Face-Off range from $40 to $140 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
This is a must-see event for tennis fans and anything could happen with this group. Such as funny things like this:
