World’s ‘best British shop’ is right here in Buffalo - VIDEO

The best British shop in the world, as determined by UK newspaper the Telegraph, is Buffalo’s own English Pork Pie Company (EPPC).
The meat pie storefront and factory located at 1176 South Park Ave. in South Buffalo beat out businesses around the world to secure the “best British shop” title.
EPPC co-owner and England ex-pat Vicky Parker said that the competition occurs in rounds. First, customers of British businesses around the world are encouraged to nominate their favorite British shops, charities, restaurants, social clubs and sports organizations. Then, customers vote for the best of each category according to country. Once EPPC earned the best British shop in America designation, it moved on to the worldwide finals—and won.
“Delighted, really”—that’s how Parker felt upon learning the news. “We’ve got such great customers and fans that support us loyally.”
Winning the title isn’t simply a matter of customer votes. A panel of judges considered votes and customer comments to decide top honors.
According to the Telegraph article announcing winners:
“It is never easy deciding which cherished business or charity should be the winner of our Best of British awards, but the comments left by their enthusiastic expat patrons were a big help to our judges.”
This is the second time the Buffalo-based pie shop has won the award in three short years the Telegraph has hosted the Best of British competition.
Parker, along with co-owner and husband Damian Parker, continue to grow menu offerings at the shop. She said that they will expand on pie offerings—which currently consist of savory meat pies—to include atypical fruit pies.
The Parkers will be serving hot pies at March 15’s Live at Larkin event. For more information about the business, visit EPPC’s Facebook page and website.
