LOCATION: BNAC Building
AGES: 6-9 years
COST: $18.00 each class/$85.00 for all 5 classes
TIME: 10:00-Noon
MATERIALS: all materials, including pottery firing, included in cost of class

Mon, 8-14
-Each student will create an “animal name tag” and a nature journal. Then you’ll go out on the nature trials to explore the park and make notes and sketches of what they see.

Tues, 8-15
-Students will make a “water wonder watcher” and use it to explore the creek, looking for insects, tadpoles and small fish. Children need to bring a change of footwear (old shoes) to wear during Creek Exploration. Later, students will create a colorful yarn drawing based on what they found in the water.

Wed, 8-16
-Students will use air-drying clay to create an Aztec Sun Stone, and once dried, will paint it. While the clay hardens and dries you’ll take a walk through the park to collect twigs for a sculptural piece.

Thurs, 8-17
-Using water-based paints, students will create a beautiful piece of glass art in the style of noted glass artist Dale Chihuly. Afterwards, students will take a walk through the park to collect leaves and other organic materials to use in making frame-able nature rubbings.

Fri, 8-18
-Students will each make s’mores and bake them in a solar oven. Yum! While the s’mores are baking, you’ll take a walk through the park looking for “a perfect flower, leaf or fern” which you’ll turn into a beautiful bookmark. You’ll end the day with sun-baked s’more snack and then go on a scavenger hunt.
