Thank you for considering Community Music School (CMS) for music instruction for you and your child. We are proud to have been serving WNY since 1924. Last year we reached 1,021 students from the age of 6 months to 86 years and beyond in various city and suburban sites. We entertained another 2,480 people in 48 performances including our popular CMS Neighborhood Concerts, CMS-Chromatic Club Concerts at the Montante Cultural Center, Student Recitals and other events.

Mezzo soprano Lisa Berglund presented a solo recital at CMS with pianist Ivan Docenko on a beautiful April evening.
Lisa has studied with Maria Goodrich (Co-Chair of the CMS Voice Department) for several years. In her other life, Lisa is a professor at Buffalo State College.

Divas in Prayer was the theme of this year's spring Divas concert at the Montante Cultural Center. Singers from the CMS faculty and the Chromatic Club presented sacred and secular music related to the theme.

| First Annual Rising Stars Open House on July 26 |
|
CMS will host a Rising Stars Open House on Saturday, July 26 from 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. - rain or shine. There will be musical activities for the whole family as well as tours of the building. The Elmwood Kiwanis will sponsor a Chiavetta's Chicken BBQ beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continuing until food runs out (or 4 p.m., whichever comes first).

The Bee-Lievers from Phillips Lytle battled with the Superdelegates from Damon & Morey and 20 other teams to win the trophy at the 14th Annual CMS Corporate Spelling Bee in the WNED Studios. The Superdelegates misspelled the word ‘siffilate’ while the Bee-Lievers correctly spelled ‘gesundheit’ in the final round.
