It’s a Firefight to blaze through Mohawk Place

by Ben Tsujimoto  •

Any male-dominated band that can coolly cover a Shania Twain song is fine by me.

It’s a Firefight, a group of five gifted local musicians with a longing to avoid the pitfalls of modern music, is slowly making its mark. The pop/rock group will headline a 5:30 p.m. show Saturday at Mohawk Place, 47 East Mohawk St., Buffalo, that includes Rust Belt Lights, I Can See Mountains, Maker, and Still Rings True. It’s a Firefight anticipates taking the stage shortly before 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

The band produces an aggressive pop-punk sound, an off-shoot of their primary influences New Found Glory, The Starting Line and Midtown. You can listen to samples of their work, which includes an upbeat cover of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One,” on the group’s Facebook Band Page. 133 people have clicked “attending” on Facebook, a promising sign for what should be a high-energy show.
