The Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College is the only museum dedicated to the art and vision of renowned American watercolorist Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967) and the artists of Western New York. The new museum, which opened in 2008, is the first "green" art museum in New York State. The Burchfield Penney holds the largest public collection of works by Burchfield including paintings, drawings, journals and ephemera as well as 8000 works by more than 750 Western New York artists.
