Celtic Rockin’ to benefit Give4Greatness
Join the Irish Classical Theatre Company and Music is Art as we join forces for a night of live rock and Celtic rock music at the Sportsmen's Tavern! Featuring headlining act Poor Ould Goat and opening act The Craft of Fiction.
Poor Ould Goat has been working the Irish Pubs and taverns of New York State with their melting pot of Irish, Scottish and American traditional and contemporary folk rock for more than six years. The songs are played with the energy of modern music without losing the roots, on a variety of folk instruments from around the world, including mandolin, bouzouki, accordion, penny whistle, djembe, doumbek, acoustic guitar, banjo and drums/traps.Poor Ould Goat ignites the room from the opening notes of a reel or the first words sung of an Irish pub favorite. The shows are informal and entertaining with singalongs, shout-alongs, dance-alongs, and drinkalongs.

In 1991, Brew Mbirika, Scott Sroka, Mike Argus, and Aaron Marshall met as students on the Canisius College campus and formed "The Craft of Fiction." For the next year, the band lit up the campus playing a mix of their own material, as well as covers by the likes of The Black Crowes, REM, U2, and Eric Clapton. Twenty years later, the members of the band have spread across the nation and the globe to Ireland, Washington DC, Syracuse, and Fredonia, but they are coming back together for one night to celebrate the music that brought them together. The band's singer and guitarist, Brew Mbirika, now lives in Dublin, Ireland, and plays with his band Blue Sun. Mbirika has played with great bands ranging from the Commitments to Cheap Trick.
