Frank Lloyd Wright Tour
Living in Buffalo you have the unique chance to view a wide variety of Frank Lloyd Wright designs. Even though you've lived here your whole life, chances are you haven't taken advantage of this great opportunity. So now is the time to spend your day the Wright way!
Begin by touring one of his classic prairie-style masterpieces - the Darwin Martin House complex (1903-1905) which includes the Barton House, the Gardner's Cottage and the Visitor's Center. The Martin's summer estate, Graycliff, located on the shores of Lake Erie in Derby, NY, (1926-1931) is another must-see Wright creation. In addition to touring these two historic properties, see some more recent projects designed by Wright, but built after his death. These include the Blue Sky Mausoleum, designed for the Martin family in 1928, but never built until 2004 and the Fontana Rowing Boat House designed to be built in Wisconsin in 1930, but was built in Buffalo in 2007. The tour will also offer exterior views of the Walter V. Davidson house (1908) and the William R. Heath house (1904-1905).
Lunch will be at the Buffalo Yacht Club or Templeton Landing.
