A little social media interaction will go a long way for one lucky Twitter follower of @Wegmans. The grocery store will host a four-course peach infused meal prepared by Peach Street Executive Chef Scott Bova, who won last year’s Wegmans Chef Throwdown competition. You could win two tickets to Friday’s event at Wegmans’ Sheridan Drive location by simply tweeting.

You know the drill: We ask you a question each Friday, and you respond in the comments section for a chance to win great prizes.

This week, we want you to tell us about your first beer—which you obviously consumed at legal drinking age. From the responses in the comments section below, we’ll choose one person who will receive $20 to Ulrich’s, a local beer-lover’s haven.

So tell…

Navigating the Elmwood Bidwell Farmers Market

You’ve probably been to a farmer’s market, strolling leisurely from stand to stand to gaze at the fresh produce, meat, bread and dairy on display.  I have a hard time just gazing; I’m one of the folks with a bad habit of touching every cucumber or tomato for full examination.  Unsurprisingly, I’ve been banned from several farmers markets.  Regardless, more normal folks are…

Survival of the fittest: Five Guys poised to test Buffalo burger market

If you’re a chain burger joint, Buffalo isn’t the best city to test the waters.  Just ask Fuddruckers, the Houston-based hamburger chain that abandoned its Amherst location in January 2011 and its Cheektowaga (Galleria) restaurant two months later.

After three and a half successful years selling burgers in Rochester from four locations, Five Guys Burgers and Fries will make…

Not everyone has the opportunity to attend a summer camp, but through Tim Hortons’ Camp Day, underprivileged children (ages 9 to 12) can spend a 10-day camping trip canoeing, hiking and swimming, among other outdoor activities.

Today, all Tim Hortons locations in the U.S. and Canada will donate every penny spent on coffee towards sending 14,000 children to summer camp.  We…

The Buffalo News’ multimedia department took a closer look at the food truck phenomenon that’s blossoming in Buffalo.  From Brian Meyer’s interviews and Aaron Besecker’s production, you’ll not only hear about the tension between “brick and mortar” restaurants and the infringing mobile food presence, but you’ll gain an understanding of why Lloyd’s Taco Truck, R&R…

When I throw on this (grilled vegetable,) it’s over girl.

I’m all for grilling artery-clogging foods.  In fact, I walked into a friend’s house on Saturday, and the family’s first response was, “My, you’ve gained weight!”  “Hello to you too!”  Damn the General Tso’s Waddle.  Anyhow, not only are most grilled items juicy and delicious, but the aroma of sizzling steaks and sausages hints that summer is closing in quicker…

Massaging The Whole Hog

The Whole Hog photo from westernnewyork.localfoodservice.com

After polishing off his third 3 Philosophers and his first cigarette in eight months at Allen Street Hardware, Ben T. needed something to satiate a growling stomach and cut what was amounting to a substantial buzz (hey, I’m a bit of a lightweight, okay?).  Fortunately, and while this was certainly an anticipated part of the evening plan, the brand new barbecue food truck, The…
