The annual National Buffalo Wing Festival, scheduled to run Sept. 1 and 2, has added three more inductees to the “Hall of Flame,” the festival’s own fiery version of a hall of fame.
2012 honorees include three Major League Eating (MLE) representatives. Among them are MLE co-founder George Shea, and competitive eaters Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas and Eric “Badlands” Booker.
According to a news release, Shea is responsible for promoting such events as the United States Chicken Wing Eating Championships in Buffalo, and he’s an enthusiastic advocate for the spicy bar food.
Thomas, a competitive eating celebrity who holds multiple world records in eating, is the current world wing-eating champ.
Booker, too, held the world-wing eating title in the past. He’s a Wing Fest regular who’s known for his appetite for rapping and, well, eating.
Previous inductees include “Osmosis Jones” star Bill Murray, “Wing King” and festival founder Drew Cerza, and Buffalo wing inventors Frank and Teressa Bellissimo of Anchor Bar.
