Allen Street soul food eatery opens next week

Guy Lane’s been bringing soul food to Buffalo for a while now, but he’s finally opening a restaurant of his own.
What started as a casual catering business that Lane ran out of his wife’s truck is now growing into a full-blown restaurant and lounge on Allen Street. Nadia’s Taste of Soul, chef-owner Lane said, will offer soul, Spanish and Caribbean dishes, a beefy selection of wine and beer, and a jazzy atmosphere where customers can relax.
Lane’s classic country ribs with mac and cheese won top honors at this year’s Buffalo Urban League Taste of Soul awards, but he says his customers can expect more than the classics. He described in detail a some of the menu items he’ll be offering, including a sauceless seafood spaghetti topped with olive oil, and his notoriously popular cajun crab legs. Nadia’s will also offer locally roasted coffee drinks from Golden Cup.
“I’m giving everyone first class,” Lane said.
The restaurant-lounge, located at 69 Allen St., will open its doors April 20 for lunch. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.(!!!) Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
