Now that the Buffalo Bisons’ season has concluded, Coca-Cola Field shows its value as a multi-use stadium—not just a Triple-A baseball diamond.

Preserving the momentum from the National Buffalo Wing Festival, the Ballpark Brew Fest will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Coca-Cola Field. Tickets are $25 pre-sale at any Consumer’s Beverages, Tickets.com or Coca-Cola Field, $35 at the door or $60 for VIP treatment.

The cost includes admission, a souvenir tasting glass, a handy manual and 20 tickets to sample beer from over 50 breweries. If you use all your tickets, that amounts to 60 ounces of beer—that’s equivalent to five cans, so unless your tolerance is exceptional, you should feel a buzz. Designated drivers can attend the event for $5, so plan accordingly.

Thirty-nine brewers are currently listed on the Pettibones Grille website, and 16 of those hail from New York State. Some of the more familiar names include Dogfish Head, Flying Bison, Community Beer Works, Ommegang, Ellicottville Brewing, Great Lakes and Saranac.

The event is rain-or-shine since tents will cover the outdoor vendors, and the Ballpark Brew Bash benefits Team Cure, a benefit for the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

For those with a bigger allowance, or the folks who rub their chin-stubble while browsing Blue Monk’s giant foreign beer list, the VIP package offers “feature 20+ special hand-selected rare beers and cask ales never before seen at a beer festival in Buffalo.” Overlooking Coca-Cola Field from the Pettibones Grill area, VIPers can also nosh on munchies like gourmet soft pretzels, nachos, cheese and crackers and a special beer-infused Buffalo jambalaya from 5 to 7 p.m.
