Craft beer, food trucks intersect at Larkin tonight

Judging from the popularity of food truck gatherings this summer—whether it’s from attracting a handful of Rochester food trucks down the 90-W or packing the Buffalo History Museum lot and surrounding streets with cars for the Food Truck Rodeos—there’s no reason to stop due to chilly weather.
To celebrate Buffalo Beer Week—which runs through Sunday—Larkin Square’s Food Truck Tuesdays will feature free craft-beer samples from Flying Bison Brewing Company and Ringside Brewery, while Flying Bison and Community Beer Works will be on tap as usual at The Grill.
Big Ditch Brewing Company—set to open in the Ellicott District in 2014 (pictured, right)—will also be on site to sell merchandise and discuss the brewery’s permit updates and future plans.
The festivities run from 5 to 8 p.m., and there’s no cost for admission. Larkin Square’s Food Truck Tuesdays will conclude on Oct. 1, so tonight is your second-last chance to partake.
There’s been no official announcement on the trucks that will attend tonight’s event, but keep your eyes on Larkin Square’s Facebook page for coming details.
The Acid Funk Trio of Eric Crittenden, Ron Davis and Ray Hangen will perform on the boardwalk stage, the Good Neighborhood adds.
Buffalo Beer Week began last Friday, with a slew of events unfolding around the city through the weekend. Keg tappings, beer pairing specials and the major Ballpark Brew Bash at Coca-Cola Field highlighted the first few days of beer week, but it’s smaller events like free tastings at Larkin that give the week its depth.
In addition to the positive press that the Live at Larkin concert series received from The Buffalo News—which concluded with a celebratory free beer for all who attended the series finale with Peter Case and Leroy Townes—the weekly food truck gatherings have been praised for their layout, diversity of fare, attendance and growth.
For instance, the following Rochester-based trucks have rolled down the 90-W to vend in the blossoming public destination: Brick N Motor, Macarollin’, Hello Arepa and the Meatball Truck Co. Head over to Larkinville tonight to nab some free craft-beer samples while noshing on your food truck fare.
