Drink coffee Wednesday, send a kid to camp

Camp Day at Tim Hortons is Wednesday

blog by S.J. Velasquez  •

Justify that second cup of coffee Wednesday by purchasing it from Tim Hortons.

Tim Hortons celebrates Camp Day on Wednesday by donating all proceeds from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, which helps economically disadvantaged children experience the fun of camp.

Last year, Tim Hortons stores in the U.S. and Canada raised nearly $9.9 million.

The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation began in Ontario more than 30 years ago with a single camp. Today, the foundation operates six year-round camps across North America, according to an official Tim Hortons news release.

Those who don’t drink coffee can still contribute to Camp Day by placing extra change in foundation coin boxes at Tim Hortons shops, “Rent-a-Tent” and “Rent-a-Cabin” donations, and donating online at sendakidtocamp.com.

New UB athletic director Danny White, UB men’s basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon and football coach Jeff Quinn will be volunteering at Tim Hortons, 3394 Sheridan Drive in Amherst, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
