The heart of Eden is about 18 miles away from downtown Buffalo, but the suburb manages to pack quite a rural punch for being so close to the city—especially when it’s corn season.

The Eden Corn Festival, which kicks off Thursday and ends Sunday, features country music, corn husking competitions, a chicken barbecue, a corn-eating contest, a tug of war and even some clogging. YEAH, it’s about to get real. Real rural.

There’s a ton of other things to see an do, so don’t forget to read through the entire festival schedule.

If you’re the kind of festival-goer that likes to sit back and take in the sights, check out the many shows offered—everything from pet shows to a beauty pageant.

Or test your might—or the strength of your stomach—in one of the many festival contests, if you’re more of the participating type.

The Eden Corn Festival has it’s beginnings in a garden festival that began in the late 1950s, according to an article posted on the festival’s official website. By the ‘60s, corn was center stage.

The festival is held at the American Legion Post 880 grounds on Legion Drive in Eden.
