Get flaky

The Nickel City Chef series, similar to a popular Food Network show “Iron Chef,” is introducing a flaky element to its latest battle. And, perhaps, a healthy heap of sugar.

The Nickel City Pastry Chef competition, May 1, brings two of Western New York’s most celebrated pastry chefs to Artisan Kitchen and Baths, where they’ll showcase their sweet skills in the kitchen.

According to a news release from Feed Your Soul Events, Chef Ellen Gedra of Bistro Europa and Chef Paul Piorkowsi of Black & Blue Steak & Crab will be thrown into the ring—err, kitchen—and tasked with incorporating a secret ingredient into tasty pastries.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase at $35, and they’ll probably sell out quickly—seats to previous events seemed to fill up in a matter of days after they went on sale. Not only can attendees enjoy the rousing cookoff, they’ll enjoy food from Sample, and there’s a cash bar.
