Get your Girl Scout Cookies

blog by S.J. Velasquez • October 08, 2012 @ 11:51am
The Girls Scouts of Western New York officially kicked off cookie season over the weekend, much to the delight of area Thin Mint horders like myself.
Initial cookie ordering began Saturday, and local Girl Scouts will continue taking orders through Oct. 27. Those who get those orders in early can expect cookie deliveries between Nov. 8 and 11, according to the local cookie timeline.
From Nov. 12 to Dec. 8, Girl Scouts will take to booths to sell another round of cookies. Find cookie-selling scouts near you by entering your zip code in the search field toward the top of this official Girl Scout Cookies page.
Cookie varieties being sold this year are Thin Mints, Caramel deLites/Samoas, Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Trefoils/Shortbreads, Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades, Savannah Smiles, Thanks-A-Lot, Dulce de Leche, Thank U Berry Munch and brand-new Mango Cremes.
Not only are the Girl Scouts debuting a new cookie, Mango Cremes, but they’re also introducing cookie-crunchers to a new box design. The fresh new look coincides with the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary. It’s the first time the cookies have been rebranded since 1999.
“We have more than 50 million cookie customers across the country, and the cookie box is the most tangible and powerful way for us to communicate directly with consumers,” Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Anna Maria Chávez said in an official statement. “So it’s no surprise that our new cookie package tells the story of the five skills girls learn from participating in the cookie program. We want people to know that with each purchase of Girl Scout Cookies, they are not just getting a delicious treat, they are helping girls to be future business leaders and to make a difference in their communities.”
For more information about the types of cookies offered this year, check out the official list on the Girl Scouts of America website.
