Lake Effect Ice Cream’s new location overlooks locks

Lockport’s artisan ice cream company is moving to a new location on Canal Street in the spring.
Lake Effect Ice Cream co-owners Jason Wulf and Erik Bernardi announced the new location on social media Wednesday.
“That is the building we will be moving all of our operations into this winter. We plan to be up and running next spring,” Bernardi and Wulf posted to Facebook, along with a photo of the building that will become home to the ice cream factory and scoop shop. “It is literally 100 yards from our current scoop shop, so don’t worry about having trouble finding us.”
The building is located on a pedestrian-only street that overlooks the locks.
“That business is ready to explode,” Lockport Mayor Michael W. Tucker told The Buffalo News. “It could be the next Ben and Jerry’s. It’s the Bye’s Popcorn of ice cream.”
