LRW Diaries: Kats like raw fish from Seabar

No stranger to this place for its awesome lunch options and unique menu, I chose Seabar as my first stop for dinner during Local Restaurant Week.
In addition to the usual menu, an array of special items were also offered to us once we sat down. Specifically for this week, the chef had prepared two main options for dinner. The first was a sushi surfboard which came with a chef’s assortment of one maki roll, three pieces of nigiri, a handroll and small bowl of sesame noodles. The second option was a three-course meal consisting of a soup, cucumber salad and wild striped bass with ginger lime sauce.
We started the meal with a big bowl of Thai coconut curry soup of the regular menu which included noodles, shrimp and herbs. Having had variations of this soup before, it was definitely a great addition to the dinner.
Here is a look at the soup from dinner. (Sidenote: the ever-changing lights did give off a blue-hue to some of the photos taken).

For the main meal, we split the sushi surfboard which came with a great presentation of food.

Also included with the meal was a small bag of spiced popcorn. It was addicting to say the least and our server told us that was because it was seasoned with curry, chili powder, salt and pepper. Aside from the main meal, there were a few appetizer specials available to choose from and wine specials that included selected bottles for the LRW price of $20.12 as well.
Overall, it was a pretty incredible meal—seeing as I’ve never been disappointed in the past when I’ve come to Seabar to dine. For more information on Local Restaurant Week, head over to their main website for food specials and a list of all participating restaurants.
