Mighty meats

Mighty Taco introduced ground chicken alternative for beefy classics.

blog by S.J. Velasquez  •

Up until now, my trips to Mighty Taco have been pretty predictable: I either order the burrito de-lite or the veggie burrito.

I don’t do red meat, so the pickings have been somewhat slim for me. I’ve been limited to the non-meat menu items, or the few grilled chicken selections. Oh, and the poppers. I dream about those things.

I have a feeling my number of Mighty runs per week with increase exponentially, seeing as the Western New York taco chain has finally added a ground chicken alternative to all the beefy Mighty classics.

Mighty Taco announced the menu news on Oct. 31, boasting “less calories, less fat” on advertisements. While I’m grateful for the news, I wish the Mighty team would’ve first consulted a mighty copy editor who would’ve been careful to insist it should read, “fewer calories.”

Mighty Chicken

But I digress.

I warmly welcome the chicken option, but I would imagine it’d be tough for any beef-eater to opt for the “healthier” ground chicken. According to a Mighty statement, “it still has the same great taste and texture of our famous seasoned taco beef.” And the guy in the YouTube video below swears he can’t tell the difference between the ground beef and ground chicken.

Have you opted to replace your beef with chicken on a recent Mighty run? What’d you think of the flavor and texture? Post your feedback in the comments section below.

Is this supposed to be re-assuring that you can’t tell the difference?

Somewhat frightening but it doesn’t matter, i’ll eat either one.
