Any fried chicken lovers out there? Popeyes, a popular Louisiana fast-food chain is in the works to come to North Buffalo
Although the project has yet to be approved by the Popeyes company, construction is expected to get started this month on the franchised location at 2106 Elmwood Ave. The project is due to be completed in November of this year.
According to the Buffalo News, “Plans on file with the city Office of Strategic Planning call for Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen to operate a 60-seat, 2,887-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru window in its trademark red-and-yellow colors.”
A quick and low cost alternative to fried chicken dishes at restaurants like Fat Bob’s or Shango, Popeyes will mostly be competing with the Kentucky Fried Chicken locations in the area. The closest KFC to the expected Popeyes location will be on East Delevan in Buffalo.
Aside from their famous fried chicken, Popeyes also serves tenders, fried seafood dishes, sandwiches, wraps and a small dessert menu including Mardi Gras cheesecake, apple pie and sweet potato pie.
Also on the menu, the signature sides include cole slaw, cajun fries, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice, green beans, biscuits, apple sauce and cajun rice.
