Did you think South Buffalo was solely Irish? Guess again.
The eighth annual South Buffalo Italian Festival will be held Sunday, Aug. 19 on the lawn of the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., Buffalo. The event is free to attend and runs from 1 to 7 p.m.
Italian food vendors include DiTondo’s, Francesca’s, Mineo’s South, Kupkates, Ilio DiPaolo’s and Leo’s Pizzeria. If anything, this festival will serve as an opportunity to narrow down the best pizza place in South Buffalo.
In typical festival fashion, there’ll be beer, wine and kettlecorn, as well as a raffle with a grand prize of a night’s stay for two at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel.
Buffalo comptroller Mark J.F. Schroeder, who started the event eight years ago, will lead the ceremonies with a sing-along version of “Che La Luna” in Italian. If you’re interested in a little preparation, here’s some help:
Proceeds support not-for-profit organization in South Buffalo such as South Buffalo Alive, which is dedicated to the beautification of the involved neighborhoods.
