The Big Gulp takeover has begun in neighborhoods surrounding Buffalo, where former Wilson Farms convenience stores now display the 7-Eleven seal.

The switch from Wilson Farms to 7-Eleven branding in Western New York was scheduled to begin late last year, according to the Buffalo News. Now, Newzjunky.com is reporting that nine Western New York stores have been successfully transformed into Slurpee centers.

The transition from Wilson Farms and Sugar Creek stores started in the Buffalo area, 7-Eleven spokeswoman Margaret A. Chambris told Newzjunky.com. The nine convenience stores formerly known as Wilson Farms mark the beginning of a brand change for a total of 188 stores.

“What we’re doing now is we are focusing on the Buffalo area first,” Chambris said in a statement to Newzjunky.com. “That’s where we have a concentration of stores plus our own stores, so we’re doing a little bit of upgrading on our existing stores and doing some remodeling and converting Wilson Farms stores there.”

The first Wilson Farms stores opened in 1969 in Tonawanda, and was named for the owner’s family farm located in Wilson, NY, the company’s history page explains. By 1981, Wilson Farms locations had reached Syracuse, and then stores began popping up throughout New York state.
