Sweet-tooth alert: Sweet Charity to charm Asbury Hall

You’ve said “no” to that cupcake long enough.
Even if you’ve remained disciplined with your diet this winter, embracing a cheat day is smart—in fact, you may drive yourself crazy by choosing to abstain from all the unhealthy foods you crave.
Plus, think how much brighter the bleak early days of February would be if a platter of cupcakes and mounds of rich chocolate—complemented by local wine—were offered to you in a beautifully-renovated venue oozing with Buffalo history.
The eighth annual Sweet Charity event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Asbury Hall (Babeville), 341 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.
Tickets run for $60 and can be purchased here.
Proceeds from the intimate gathering of dessert lovers benefit the Food Bank of Western New York, while the presenting sponsor is James Desiderio, Inc.
Here’s a partial list of the vendors—many of which are suburban spots making the trip into the city—expected to appear at Babeville:
Anderson’s Frozen Custard
Choco-Logo Confectionery Design
Fairy Cakes Cupcakery
Ilio Di Paolo’s
New Day Coffee Roasters
Oh Pour L’Amour Du Chocolat
The Roycroft Inn
Tops Markets, LLC
Update at 3:20 p.m. 2/4: The Food Bank of Western New York’s Mike Billoni passed along the names of the participating wineries:
Arrowhead Spring Vineyards
Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine
Glenora Wine Cellars
Niagara Landing Wine Cellars
Passport Wine & Spirits
Southern Wine & Spirits
The chocolate, desserts and beverages—wine, beer and coffee—will be accompanied by a silent auction boasting sports, entertainment and spa packages.
And yes, there’s a widespread belief that calories consumed at Sweet Charity do not count toward your daily intake. So, boom. Cheat.
