Tabasco enters the Buffalo-style sauce market

blog by S.J. Velasquez  •

With lots of wing-slinging restaurants marketing their own wing sauces, it’s almost surprising to learn that major hot sauce vendors like Tabasco haven’t already entered the wing sauce market.

Just this week, Tabasco announced that it will finally offer a Buffalo-wing-inspired sauce, competing directly with Frank’s RedHot sauce. According to a company press release, “this much-anticipated and requested cayenne pepper-based sauce adds authentic Buffalo flavor to an array of foods, like hot wings, sandwiches and burgers, BBQ and meats.”

What exactly is “Buffalo flavor”? Red cayenne pepper, salt, water, distilled vinegar and garlic, the press release reveals.

What do you think? Will Tabasco hold up against our beloved Frank’s?
