Trader Joe’s is coming to WNY - UPDATE

UPDATE: KVIS president Melissa Foster confirmed that Trader Joe’s will open a Western New York store, but that store will not be in Kenmore.
WKBW’s headline originally read, “Trader Joe’s Coming to Kenmore,” but that headline has since been corrected. It now reads, “Trader Joe’s Coming to WNY.” The story’s URL still includes the Kenmore mention.
Foster clarified, adding that KVIS was instrumental in attracting the grocery chain, and she’s glad to see it coming to the Buffalo area. She said she was not at liberty to disclose the specific location of the store, but “you can bet it’s in a major quarter.”
Foster and members of her organization are “delighted” with the news that Trader Joe’s is coming to the area.
“They’re not a big box store—they like to have a smaller footprint,” Foster said. “They offer excellent products at a very fair price range.”
UPDATE: WGRZ (Channel 2) tweeted a message from a Trader Joe’s representative debunking the rumor that Trader Joe’s will open in Kenmore.
We reached out to Trader Joe’s corporate offices and KVIS for comment. Neither organization has returned our calls at this time.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED (see above updates for clarification on store location): Trader Joe’s will open in Kenmore some time in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to WKBW.
The news station reported this morning that the Kenmore Village Improvement Society (KVIS) announced the news. KVIS’s Facebook page doesn’t mention Trader Joe’s specifically, but a representative did post the following message regarding tonight’s KVIS meeting:
The Facebook page also links to the WKBW news story:
Representatives from KVIS and Trader Joe’s corporate offices have not yet returned our calls.
In July, Trader Joe’s announced that it would be opening it’s first Western New York location near Rochester. That store is slated to open early next month.
