Wings, wings, wings, wings-wings, wings

You’re welcome, America.
Thanks to Buffalo, the football fan’s snack of choice was born. This year, the National Wing Council estimates more than 1.25 billion Buffalo wing portions will be consumed during Super Bowl weekend. That’s more than 100 million pounds of wings—a 12 percent increase since last year.
On any given Sunday, Americans eat only a third of what we’re expected to consume on Super Bowl Sunday, NCC Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Bill Roenigk said.
“Whether the wings are mildly-spiced, medium-spiced or super-hot, restaurants and grocery stores have made wings a bigger part of menus throughout the year,” Roenigk said.
Chicken may be the hot sauce conduit of choice, but there’s a lot more you can do with a bottle of Frank’s and a stick of butter. Check out Monday’s post about the bizarre Buffalo-style foods I found on the web. Some even include the recipe, if you’re in the mood for a hot wing-flavored potato pancake.
