Wranglin’ food trucks at Eastern Hills Mall

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

You can be a Thanksgiving glutton on Thursday and still have room for Saturday’s Food Truck Rodeo.

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, nine Buffalo food trucks will congregate at the Eastern Hills Mall front parking lot, 4545 Transit Rd., Williamsville, to sell street food for charity. A percentage of the overall profit will benefit Meals on Wheels, as the charitable organization enters its busiest season.

Amy’s Truck, Lloyd Taco Truck, the Whole Hog, the Knight Slider, R & R BBQ, the Cheesy Chick, the Roaming Buffalo, the Sweet Hearth, and Rolling Joe Cafe will be on hand to corral the bluster of holiday shoppers. From hardy burritos to lentil-berry sandwiches to falafel sliders to delicious slices of pie, there will be no shortage of food options. How about this possible lineup:

—A Mochaccino from Rolling Joe to warm-up for massive food intake.
Veggie Wet Shoes from Amy’s Truck as an appetizer, as french fries covered in lentils, cheese, onions, hot sauce are sure to further whet the appetite. These are very easily shared, too.
—A pork burrito from Lloyd Taco Truck. It’s simple but delicious, and the fellows have improved the quality of their ingredients, too. Don’t hesitate to go heavy on the Rocket Sauce as well.
—A slice of key lime pie from Sweet Hearth—it tastes absurdly fresh and has a little bit of a sour bite to it.

Meals on Wheels just delivered its 25 millionth meal last week—that’s 25,000,000—and, to help needy families enjoy their holidays, the not-for-profit organization is welcoming donations and volunteers.
