Buffalonians will be first same-sex couple married in New York.

Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd have been together for years. They’ve raised a family, started the OUTspoken for Equality organization and have been quite vocal about their qualms with how New York defined marriage. Now, Rudd and Lambert will finally have a crack at holy matrimony right here in Western New York, and they are believed to be the first same-sex couple to be married in New York State, the Advocate reports.
According to media reports, the couple will marry Sunday, at the stroke of midnight. In honor of the Luna Island wedding, Niagara Falls will be lit with rainbow lights, and local and national representatives will be present for the monumental ceremony.
The Village Voice reports that Buffalo State Senator Mark Grisanti, who was one of four Republicans to vote for the Marriage Equality Act, will also be in attendance.
