First it was extreme eating. Now, we’ve taken another tame activity to the brink.
Let’s get ready to GARRRRRRDENNNNNNN.
Thirteen front lawns bordering South Buffalo’s Cazenovia Park are being completely revamped as part of a garden makeover competition, pitting neighbors against neighbors—all in the name of beautifying our city, of course.
Professional landscapers are donating time, effort and supplies to the competition, part of the second annual National Garden Festival. The competition kicked off Monday and will continue through Saturday. The public is encouraged to see the process of the front yard renovations on Newman Place, and passersby are urged to vote for their favorite front yard gardens once the landscapers have finished. Paper ballots will be available outside the participating homes, or voters can take to the web to select a favorite front lawn. Voting opens the evening of July 16 and ends July 22.
The Front Yard Garden Competition is organized by the Western New York State Nursery and Landscape Association, the New York State Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, Visit Buffalo Niagara and the National Garden Festival.
