Right in the center of Delaware Park Golf Course is a cemetery, but there’s a good chance you never noticed it. That’s because there are no elaborate monuments or fancy plots recognizing the eternal resting places of each of the 300 American soldiers.

Instead, there’s a large stone and a modest bronze plaque marking the site of those hundreds of soldiers who died from disease and exposure to the elements between 1812 and 1813, the Associate Press reports. But a local group is trying to bring awareness to “Mound in the Meadow,” the soldiers’ gravesite.

Local historian and author Steve Cichon and a group of volunteers will place 300 American flags at the gravesite at 9:45 a.m. Monday, WIVB reports. To help, meet at Delaware Park’s Ring Road at Colvin Avenue.
