It’s hard to hate Pat Kane

With the Vancouver Canucks facing the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, you’d think residents of Vancouver would be taking any opportunity to hate on Blackhawks star—and Buffalo’s own—Patrick Kane. But, as the Vancouver Sun reveals, it’s hard to dislike a guy so dedicated to his hometown.

Yeah, Kane scuffled with a cab driver over some change, and he’s been involved in a handful of other less-than-tasteful incidents, but he has some redeeming qualities that even Canucks fans find hard to ignore, the Sun reports. He’s a family guy and a Buffalo buff who takes time to visit old friends and mentors when he’s back in town. He even visits sick kids. How can you hate the guy? Apparently, you just can’t.

When the Sun interviewed Kane, he addressed his not-so-stellar reputation off the ice: “I feel like I’m a sensitive, emotional kid at heart, but sometimes that gets lost on people.”

Aw.
