Labatt Blue takes Buffalo’s pond hockey tournament under the lights!

This morning, Labatt Blue announced that the fifth annual Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament on Lake Erie at the Erie Basin Marina will expand again—with an exciting twist! The total number of teams will increase from 124 to 144, the number of players allowed per team will expand from six to seven and action will continue into the evenings under the lights. Enchanting.

The last nugget is the most exciting, at least for us—there’s little more enticing than the sounds of sharp skates gliding around the ice, the crack of a hard slap shot and the snap of the twine after a goal as the sun sets. The ice shines a little brighter, the goals seem a little more dramatic and allure of Buffalo’s signature winter event continues to grow. I’m getting carried away here.

The tournament is scheduled from February 10 to 12 and, despite the addition of another player to the roster, the cost remains at $250 per team. That’s under $40 per player! The organizers emphasize signing up at noon on Nov. 27, as last year’s tournament sold out in just a few hours.
