It’s only been six days since these teams played each other last in an eventful shoot-out that ended up with Buffalo on top 3-2. While the Sabres are currently on a four game win streak, thanks in big part to the red-hot Jhonas Enroth, their shaky defense must step up tonight.

Blueliners Tyler Myers and Andrej Sekera were both a minus-3 against Winnipeg last game, and those numbers need to improve for that win streak to continue. With an optional practice this morning for the players, Enroth will likely be between the pipes tonight.

Sabres fans have been invited to a few extra events planned for tonight’s game in honor of Veteran’s Day, and apparently the number 11. Gilbert Perrault (who wore number 11 on the team) will be hosting the Tailgate Tent Party and meeting with fans prior to the game. Nathan Gerbe will continue his Tickets for Troops program, and members of the Wounded Warriors sled hockey team will be in attendance on behalf of Thomas Vanek.

The warm-ups will have a different look as well with the Sabres wearing camouflage jerseys that will later be auctioned off online to benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. Then, just before puck-drop, there will be a presentation of the Purple Heart to Chris Krieger, the founder of WNY Heroes.

This is the second of six meetings between the Sabres and Senators this season. Although Daniel Alfredsson missed the last five games with a concussion, the Ottawa captain is slated to make his return tonight against Buffalo. The Senators have gone 1-3-1 without Alfredsson in the lineup. His return is sure to make a big impact on the Sens’ efforts to capture a win in the opening contest of a six game road trip. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at First Niagara Center.
