Ridiculous outfits, girl power and a bit of national attention—all in a day’s work for the Buffalo Bosom Buddies.

The group of friends consisting of Danielle Perla, Andrea Cook, Tina Santomauro, Holly Burg, Jeni Becker, Abby Adams and Lizzie Miller booked it to Chicago for the Dirty Girl Mud Run to honor family members affected by breast cancer.

“An untimed, wild and fun obstacle course that welcomes women of all ages and athletic abilities, Dirty Girl Mud Run challenges women to break from their routines for a day, get out of their comfort zones, get dirty, and accomplish something brand new. Dirty Girl Mud Run attracts thousands of women in each city it stops in, and over 350,000 women are expected to participate in events nationwide in 2013.,” according to their website.

Hearing about their cause, “Today” anchor Sara Haines joined the Buffalo team for the gritty and grimy trek. Their story was then featured on the fourth hour of “Today” with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on Tuesday. The girls even gave Haines a Buffalo-inspired cup to share with the daytime drinking enthusiasts… I mean, television hosts.

The Buffalo Bosom Buddies are planning on participating in the Dirty Girl Mud Run again here in Buffalo on Sept. 7. This non-competitive muddy obstacle course would be the perfect event for any girls not afraid to take on the mud.

Overall, it was quite a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Registration for the Buffalo Dirty Girl Mud Run event on Sept. 7 ranges from $65 to $100 and is open to girls 14 and older.

“Participants can expect excitement, laughter and camaraderie—as well as lots of music, refreshments and a complimentary drink,” according to event organizers.

“Dirty Girl believes in providing women with a challenging and empowering environment to achieve new levels in life‐confidence while having fun and bonding with loved ones. From start to finish, the Dirty Girl Mud Run in Buffalo will be an unforgettable event and an incredible team-building experience.”
