Buffalo Zoo polar bear: Livin’ la vida Luna

The Buffalo Zoo’s polar bear cub, tentatively referred to as Luna by the zoo staff, will keep her name.
Fans of the now permanent name flocked to Facebook to express their happiness—and confusion, for those who didn’t understand why Luna might undergo an name change in the first place.
Luna, who was kept secret by the zoo’s staff while her mother carried her, was introduced in early March. She made her first public appearance at the zoo late last month, and she continues to be viewable to the public daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the vanishing animals exhibit.
Luna will be joined by a polar bear pal in the months ahead. Kali, an orphaned bear, will head to the Buffalo Zoo to socialize with Luna before Kali is sent to a permanent home at a different zoo.
