#BuffCashMob returns tonight at Thin Ice

Buffalo Cash Mob, the locally-inspired movement that draws consumer traffic to deserving Buffalo businesses, plans to invade Elmwood gift shop Thin Ice tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. After shopping, the cash mobbers will bounce across the street to Acropolis for a celebratory beer.

Stationed at 719 Elmwood Ave., Thin Ice prides itself in handmade gifts that are all made in America, 90% of which are crafted in Western New York. Browsing through Thin Ice’s ShopBuffalo online store, there are some fascinating items—an origami buffalo created out of a City of Buffalo map, uniquely shaped candlestick holders and dragonfly salt and pepper shakers. The clever handiwork of local artists is featured at Thin Ice, and the odds are high that you’ll find something to spice up your dining room table.

Buffalo Cash Mob’s goal is for participants to spend between $10 and $20 during their visit, pushing money back to local businesses instead of supporting national chains like Target and Wal-Mart. Kathryn and Ben T. dropped in during the January #BuffCashMob at Chow Chocolat on Elmwood, and it was a relaxed setting with friendly conversation, outstanding artisan chocolates and warm drinks.
