Artvoice’s annual Best of Buffalo awards will soon be distributed to people, publications, organizations and businesses in Western New York, but the independent weekly paper has first announced the top nominees for each category—a few of which include some of Buffalo.com’s close friends and affiliates.
This year, the team over at Artvoice tallied “2,670 completed ballots, 92,041 responses, and 183 essays on waterfront development” to find the top five nominees for each category.
In the best blog category, our pals over at BuffaloEats.org and buffaBLOG.com were among the nominees. Buffalo.com and BuffaloEats have teamed up for many projects in the past few years, and blogger Donnie Burtless’ “Eat It Up” podcast is featured regularly right here on Buffalo.com. Some of the guys over at buffaBLOG, the area’s premier music blog, have also contributed as guest bloggers and podcasters on Buffalo.com.
When it comes to the best print journalists in Buffalo, The Buffalo News rules. Of the five top nominees, four are reporters at The News. Congratulations to Donn Esmonde, Colin Dabkowski, Tim Graham and Jerry Sullivan.
Best of Buffalo categories fall under the following larger divisions: people and places; art and artists; music; nightlife; local eats; shops and services; and Artvoice editor’s picks.
The winners of each category will be announced May 13 at Town Ballroom. The event is open to the public, and doors open at 6 p.m.
Congratulations to all those nominated, especially our friends at BuffaloEats, buffaBLOG and The Buffalo News.
