All of you Saturday losers with dreams of Toilet Bowl glory on Sunday: it’s not going to happen.

The second day of Buffalo’s annual two-day visit from the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament has been cancelled, presumably due to poor weather conditions. We have a report that the hoops at Niagara Square and Delaware Avenue are being dismantled already.

No official word yet from Macker officials, but—according to Weather.com—rain showers are supposed to get steady in the downtown area beginning at 10 a.m., winds are supposed to reach speeds of 20 miles per hour and the temperature is going to peak at 65 degrees. Not ideal conditions for knocking down your 10-footer, nor for staying upright when running around on slick pavement (which is probably the bigger concern).

So now what? If weather is indeed the cause of the cancellation, the official Gus Macker weather policy states that “...In the unlikely event of cancellation of the tournament due to adverse weather conditions, each team shall receive their four (4)players t-shirts and team registration package (i.e. programs, Gusettes, etc.) Every effort will also be made to present trophies and awards in an equitable manner. Under no circumstances will a team receive a full cash refund of the team entry fee.The exact amount of the refund is at the sole discretion of the tournament organizers, considering the number of games played, out of pocket costs, etc.The maximum cash refund, if any, will be $20.00 per team.”
