In a list compiled by The Street, Rochester has been named as one of 10 cities poised for greatness in 2012. And it’s not just because of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que either.

According to the The Street,

Employers such as Bausch & Lomb and Genesee Brewing parent North American Breweries have kept Rochester’s unemployment below 7% and falling. The latter has also managed to boost its beer business nearly 7% in 2010 while overall U.S. beer sales fell 1%. The real estate market, meanwhile, is a wonder: Home prices are actually up 1.4% since 2010 and have been rising steadily since the housing boom.

Although Kodak and Xerox have been moving toward irrelevancy, things seem to be looking up for Rochester. Despite the sway in the market on a national level, the city has maintained a stable environment and locals are happy about that.

The only qualm I have with The Street’s list? Listing London and Chicago seems like a bit of a stretch for cities that are “poised for greatness.” Both of those spots are so rich in history and success that they’ve been great for awhile. But regardless, congrats to all the cities named. One day you will all be considered a great city of the world, even you London, just keep on keeping on.
