Slow grow for Buffalo

While Texas cities continue to attract new residents, the Rust Belt struggles to retain residents.
Metropolitan regions surrounding Buffalo and Rochester were named some of the “slowest-growing,” according to Forbes.
Buffalo, Forbes statistics show, has decreased in population by 3 percent since 2000. Rochester fared slightly better than its neighboring city to the west, showing a slight growth of 1.5 percent since 2000. Still, that kind of slow population growth earned it a place on the slower end of the rankings.
As bleak as numbers may seem for Western New York cities, things could be a lot worse. Cleveland, with the worst numbers of major metropolitan regions in the U.S., saw a population decrease of 3.9 percent since 2000.
Of the 52 metro regions ranked by Forbes, the fast-growing cities were in the Sun Belt.
