Mobile charades app Do Something secured first place at the inaugural Startup Weekend Buffalo, beating out 16 other teams for the $3,000 prize.

GridTime and Secure Share placed second and third, earning each $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. The top three teams also won free legal advice from Lisa Primerano of Primerano Law.

According to a Startup Weekend Buffalo statement, Do Something is eligible to compete in Global Startup Battle 2012, “where the company will have a chance to win a prize package that includes $35,000 worth in design, public relations, legal and Google cloud services, as well as trips to Rio de Janeiro and San Francisco, sponsored by Global Entrepreneurship Week and Startup Weekend, respectively.”

“This award signals the start of something big,” Steve Poland, founder and team leader of Do Something, said in a news release. “Winning this competition is reinforcement from these professional, experienced investors and judges that our team is onto something that people will use and enjoy.”
