Riding the Pine
No work for Axford since Sunday.  The Milwaukee Brewers lost their home opener to the Atlanta Braves on Monday, 2-1, after RP Takashi Saito blew his first save opportunity of the season.  The Sultans of Suds earned their first victory of 2011 on Tuesday, however, winning a skintight pitchers’ duel, 1-0, on the strength of a 2-hit shutout by Yovani Gallardo, improving the Brewers’ record to 1-4.  Our Man Axford has pitched in just one of the last four games after blowing a save in the first game of the season.

Did You Know…
John was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2001, but chose to accept a scholarship to play baseball at Notre Dame, instead.
