According to the University at Buffalo athletic director Danny White’s twitter account, country artists Joe Nichols and Easton Corbin are among those on the docket to perform before the Bulls’ home football games in the second year of the Tailgate Concert Series.
Excited about 2014 Tailgate Concert series! Students asked for more country, so we open 8/30 with Easton Corbin. Game vs. Duquesne. #NYBI— Danny White (@UBDannyWhite) February 4, 2014
Credit White for listening to student suggestions and adjusting the music lineup for 2014, as last year’s lineup of Blues Traveler, Randy Houser, Kool and the Gang and Big Bad VooDoo Daddy appealed more to nostalgic alumni than the student body.
In UB’s run to the Idaho Potato Bowl in 2013 on the field was met with a more intense focus on the game-day experience, as the Tailgate Concert Series—a set of musical entertainment in Stampede Square from a national artist roughly two hours before kickoff—added an extra element to the usual tailgate parties and parade into UB Stadium.
Although the Bulls’ official game schedule won’t be released until 5 p.m. tomorrow on National Signing Day, here’s the musical entertainment before the already-scheduled non-conference games:
**UB Bulls vs. Duquesne Dukes, Aug. 30
—Pre-game performance by country heartthrob Easton Corbin
**UB Bulls vs. Baylor Bears, Sept. 13
—Pre-game performance by shaggy-haired Joe Nichols
**UB Bulls vs. Norfolk State, Sept. 20
—Pre-game performance by The Spin Doctors
Here’s a helpful snippet from exceptionally-knowledgeable Bulls SB Nation blogger Tim Riordan, who runs UB Bull Run:
This will mark the first time UB has hosted seven games in the modern era and follows a season which saw UB lead the Mid American Conference in regular season attendance. The Bulls had an average paid attendance of 22,736 fans per game this past season, over 2,000 more than any other school in the MAC.
If the concert announcements have you buzzing about the Bulls’ future even more than before, a National Signing Day party will be held at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Santora’s, 1402 Millersport Highway, Williamsville, where head coach Jeff Quinn will announce the team’s 2014 recruiting class.
