Where my dogs at? The Howl-O-Ween parade, of course

I am more of a cat person than a dog person (and by “cat person” I mean that I have 47 feral cats laying waste to my apartment as you read this). However, I readily agree that canines have one strong advantage over felines: you can dress a dog up.
If you like to see your furry little pals costumed like adorable farm animals, friendly pirates and characters from Star Wars, then you definitely want to get out to the Howl O’ Ween Pet Trick-or-Treat Parade and Costume Contest today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Tres Chic Pet Boutique (718 Main St., East Aurora). For a minimum donation of $5 to Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue, your delightful dog can participate in the festivities.
What to expect: a professional photographer will be on hand to capture the moment for posterity. Local businesses will distribute pet treats as the parade winds its way through the village. Prizes will be awarded to the most dapper dogs.
Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to the health, safety and adoption of some of the area’s littlest dogs. If you are looking to give a pug or small dog a home, you can see the current rescues at the Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue website or visit the adoption center in Buffalo from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. You can also find Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue on Facebook.
